While photos are undeniably essential for preserving wedding memories, video adds a unique dimension that photos alone can't quite match. Think about it – why do we instinctively whip out our phones to record videos at concerts, birthdays, and brunch get-togethers?
Video has the magical ability to encapsulate not just the visual beauty but also the ambiance, emotions, and love that fill a wedding day. It's a way to relive those cherished moments in all their vibrancy.
But we realise not everyone might know how video works during a wedding day. So we’ve included some additional info and FAQs below to answer some of those burning questions!
So, how does it all work?
Think of us as your second photographer, but with a cinematic twist! Depending on your chosen package and the flow of your day, our timeline typically aligns with that of a photographer. We aim to capture essential moments such as preparation, the ceremony, candid photos, the reception, speeches, and the dance floor.
However, what sets us apart is our dedication to capturing the moments between the photos—the genuine smiles, infectious laughter, lively movements, and the palpable excitement that makes each wedding day unique. Our approach is all about being discreet, like a 'fly on the wall,' to preserve the authentic, heartwarming vibes that define your special day.
I’m shy and hate being on camera.
We get it! When we’ve had our video taken in the past we get a bit deer in the headlights too. But we pride ourselves in creating a fun energy without being too in-your-face. Some of our favourite films are from our ‘shy-est’ couples, because if your happy and enjoying the moment, the video basically makes itself.
Do you have any recommendations to make a great wedding?
For sure! While everyone’s wedding is a reflection of whatever makes you the most happy on your big day. But from our experience there’s some things that tend to make weddings the most fun for everyone involved, and create the best vibe for videos.
Try have it all in one place. If you can, avoid having your guests travel too much. Pick spots for the prep, ceremony, photos and reception that are in close proximity to each other. This makes everyone a bit more relaxed on the day, and means you have more time to grab some great couple shots, as well as spend time more time celebrating with your family and friends.
Outdoors is great! Beautiful outdoor scenery, with shades of lush greens, forest browns and floral tones are *chefs kiss*. Sprinkle in some candles and fairy lights, and voila…magical vibes all round. If outdoors isn’t your vibe, try go for somewhere that has rustic charm or heritage vibes (think Old Pickle Factory, Como the Treasury or Lamonts).
We don’t mind a first look. Shake off some nerves before you walk down the aisle, and meet each other for a quick smooch before the ceremony. It creates an intimate and cute moment, and might help your racing heart when you hear those church bells chime.
Create little joys and break traditions. Its your wedding, so do it your way. Incorporate meaningful traditions but also don’t be afraid to ditch the old for the new. If there are things unique to you as a couple, add them to your day! You met on Bumble?…Give everyone a jar of honey on the way out. You like quick magic?…Swap your first dance for slight of hand magic show. You want to appease your great aunts and uncles? Have some traditional dancers crash the dance floor. Nobody writes the rules for a wedding, so enjoy the blank canvas!
How do you capture audio on the day?
We like to get at least two, sometimes three sources of audio to be super backed up in case anything goes wrong. For the ceremony we hook into the PA system, I attached a small mic onto the celebrants microphone and we put a lapel on the groom. During speeches we normally do something similar, with a lapel on a stand or somewhere close by.
How do you pick the music?
We pay a licence to put backing tracks behind the clips, and we choose the songs based on the vibe of the day, the flow of the video and what we think suits you guys. This licensing also allows us and you to host these videos online legally. we’re more than happy to send through a bunch of songs that I think could work for you to chose from!
How long does the final product take and how do I receive it?
The final product takes anywhere from 1 to 3 months, depending on our backlog. We normally give you a little sneak peak in the week or so after your wedding. We send these digitally for you to download and share with your family and friends.
Do you charge for travel?
We are based in lovely Perth, Western Australia and film all over the southwest (and sometimes north!). We charge a small fee for weddings more than an hour from the Perth metro area.
